Recommendation: North Face Surge Backpack Review

The North Face Surge backpack is effectively the best back pack I have ever owned. Coming from an enthusiastic hiker, I’ve used this back pack on a variety of terrain and during a variety of activities from a walk through the park to a 20 mile bike ride. The slim yet accommodating style of the backpack allows for you to carry whatever you would need on a day long trip, without over bearing you with the inconveniences of it all. The Surge comfortably fits most lap tops up to 15”, and as you can imagine, if you are willing to stretch it a little bit, you can even fit the larger ones. The cell phone pockets, MP3 player holder, and side clips are all great additions to the product. Additionally, the compression straps are great if you really want to maintain that slim look and, avoid having the contents fall to the bottom after a day long trek. What’s really great about this backpack is how good it is at keeping your lap top safe and secure in many different situations. The storage compartment keeps the laptop upright instead of the horizontal style that many other computer backpacks employ. Over all, I would say that although this backpack does carry a hefty price tag, its well worth the buy for the amenities it boasts make it well worth the cost.

Devil's Advocate:

Some international travel carry-on luggage requirements are more stringent than domestic especially when it comes to weight.  Air France would not let me carry this on a Boston to Paris flight, which was a huge bummer, especially since after they made me check it they forgot to put it on the plane.  At the end of the day if it’s good enough for people who travel for a living, it’s good enough for me.
