The North Face Outerwear Reviews 2012

This jacket is North Face’s newest best selling 3-in-1 jacket. Adaptable to all types of mountain conditions, this jacket is waterproof and made with breathable HyVent fabric.  The outer jacket can be worn alone on warmer or wet days or can be combined with the interior insulated removable jacket for cold and snowy days.  Like the other North Face 3-in-1 jackets, this has a detachable hood, google pocket, powderskirt and other neat features.

The Redpoint has been my favorite North Face jacket for years.  Designed with contrasting colors, a useful hood and Primaloft insulation, this jacket is remarkably lightweight and durable and can even zipper into its internal chest pocket making it ideal for travel.  Although it is incredibly thin, it’s light polyurethane coat is water resistant and the jacket is incredibly warm in cold and harsh conditions.

Similar to the men’s Headwall, the Cheakamus TriClimate is a brand new style that combines a waterproof HyVent exterior with a removal insulated liner jacket.  The jacket also features a quilted taffeta exterior to give it extra shine and style.  It is equipped with additional skiing and riding features including a powderskirt, google cloth and handwarmer pocket.

Lightweight down jackets seem to be all the rage this season and the Summit Series Crimptastic Jacket is the perfect choice for the aggressive female skier, who appreciates a fashion-forward look. This lightweight 800 down fill jacket has Polar Tec Power Stretch fabric in the underarms and forearms to help with flexibility and mobility on the slopes. Although this is somewhat of a lightweight ski jacket, it is super comfortable and can be paired underneath a North Face shell to provide extra warmth on a very cold or windy day.

If you are looking for something more cutting edge and comfortable, look no further than this brand-new jacket. Developed with Vivid Edge seamless soft shell construction, this jacket lends itself to comfortable riding and skiing all winter long.  It comes with other handy skiing and riding features including a wrist accessory pocket with google cloth, powderskirt, handwarmer zip pockets and more.

Perfect for spring skiing or riding, this slim fit waterproof jacket is part of North Face’s premium Summit Series. The Leonidas is remarkably breathable, sealed with a Hyvent exterior, and has pit zips and storm-secure cuffs for extra ventilation and insulation. Although this jacket is designed primarily for outdoor winter athletics, its sleek and flattering look make it ideal for off the mountain as well.

The Denali Fleece is probably the best selling fleece of all time with its comfortable fit and zip-in capability with the North Face 3-1 Jackets. The soft and durable Denali jacket is equipped with recycled Polartec 300 series fleece construction and abrasion-reinforced shoulders and elbows for added protection during winter sports.  The Denali was designed with other useful winter features including pit-zips, a hem cinch cord, elastic-bound cuffs and more.  Even when worn regularly, this fleece can easily give you a decade worth of use.

Often times high winds are harsher than cold temperatures and the Windwall 1 Jacket helps take off the bitter bite. This top selling North Face fleece delivers warmth as a standalone fleece jacket on a cold day and excellent insulationzipped into a North Face shell on a brutally cold or windy day. At under $150, the Slasher Cargo Pant is definitely a good bang for your buck.  Its relax fit gives you extra room through the upper leg, which is great for layering and aggressive skiing or boarding.  It is also equipped with a Chimney Venting system, which provides dry airflow throughout the pant preventing you from getting too hot or too cold on the mountain.

The higher tech Bizzo pant is the most technically advanced snow pant that North Face makes.  Although it has a super relaxed fit, the Gore-Tex exterior and heavy-duty fabric are sure to keep you warm and comfortable in the harshest of conditions.

If you are searching for a classic women’s ski pant that you will use for years, look no further than the well-priced Freedom LRBC Pant.This waterproof HyVent pant available in Black and White is low rise around the waist and boot cut around the bottom.  The athletic fit allows you to layer comfortably, while the Chimney Venting system helps keep you cool and dry throughout the day.
