The Product: Five Point Harness Booster Seat

There’s been a lot of discussion in the last few years about when children should move to a traditional booster seats. This issue was very much brought to light with a video that a mom posted on You Tube last year which was watched by over two million people blaming the death of her child on the lack of a five-point harness.  After this video hit the net, Britax sold out of traditionally unpopular five-point harness car seat (Britax Regent) for about six months.  The issue is really a matter of convenience.  There is not much doubt that a five-point harness is a safer option, it has built-in safeguards because the car seat is attached to the seat in three places (the two latch anchors and the tether) and is less prone to failure or accidental unbuckling.  However, it's also important to note that tethers and latches are only designed with certain weight limits in mind and that if you use one of these seats, you may have to switch to using a regular seat belt with the car seat once your child reaches a certain weight..

Recommendation: Sunshine Kids Radian 80 Car Seat

I am currently writing my Sunshine Kids Radian 80 Car Seat Review. In the meantime, you can read the full review of the Sunshine Kids Radian 65 Car Seat, which has a smaller weight limit, but is otherwise virtually the same seat.
