On Valentine's Day everyone wants to make a great impression on their sweetheart, and just because the economy isn't doing well doesn't meant that you can't still do that. Here are some cute Valentine's ideas for ways to have a romantic and fun evening with your sweetie that won't break the bank.

• Cook a great dinner at home. You can go out and buy all the same ingredients that would be in a meal at a fancy restaurant for half the price or less. Plus, wine is often two-thirds cheaper in a shop than in a restaurant. Cook up a tasty meal and surprise your special person, or cook together for a fun and romantic evening at home.
• Pack a picnic. If you live in a warm-weather area, put together some delicious hors d'ouevers, pack a bottle of wine, and head out to a scenic spot to watch to sun set and enjoy each other's company. It's romantic, special, and far less expensive than an evening out on the town.
• Do lunch. Many great restaurants are much cheaper for lunch than for dinner, and this is especially true on holidays when they usually have prix fixe dinner menus. If you and your special someone can get away from work, have lunch and you'll find that your dollar will pretty far. At many top-flight restaurants where dinner would be more than $100 per person, you can often have a fantastic lunch for less than half that.
• Celebrate the next night. Many restaurants have special menus that are more expensive than usual on Valentine's Day. If you can wait until Februaury 15th to celebrate, you can go to the same restaurants and have pretty much the same experience for less money.
