Baby Bassinet

Many new parents opt for having a bassinet in their room for the first few months because it is more convenient than having to go back and forth to the baby’s room on a regular basis.

Arms Reach Mini Co-Sleeper
Arms Reach Mini Co-Sleeper
Pros
  • Co-sleeper function allows the bassinet to line up flush with the bed
  • Can be used as a play pen or changing table as well
Cons
  • Lacks the ability to rock, vibrate or play music

Even though it’s called a co-sleeper, the Arm’s Reach is a full functional bassinette that also serves as a portable crib. While many traditional looking bassinets may seem formal or remind you of what you may have used as a baby, they are often very hard to clean and only get used for a few weeks/months, making them a poor investment.

One of the great features of the Arm’s Reach is the co-sleeper function, where one of the sides comes down halfway allowing the bassinet to line up flush to one side of the bed. This way, you can just roll over and grab your baby in the middle of the night to feed him/her without having to get out of bed and without the fear of keeping the baby in your own bed. It’s really the best of both words. In addition to being used as a bassinette, the Mini Co-sleeper folds up compactly for travel/storage and can also be used as a playpen and changing table. The bedding is easy to change and the Arm’s Reach comes in a variety of colors. It’s definitely a purchase you will get your money’s worth out of and I have never met anyone that didn’t love theirs.

Features

  • Accommodates adult beds 22” to 24” high (from the top of the adult mattress to the floor); add leg extensions for 6" of additional height in three 2" increments
  • Security strap fastens easily into place under the adult bed mattress
  • Wheels for easy maneuverability
  • Large storage space under mattress

The Arm’s Reach does lack some of the features of a dedicated purposes bassinet, including the ability to rock, play music or vibrate. If these are features that are important to you, the Arm’s Reach may not be the best choice. However, before you make your decision, ask someone with a bassinet that includes these features how often they used them.
