Lightweight Umbrella Stroller
A lightweight umbrella stroller is a great product to have for traveling or to keep in your second car so you don’t have to worry about switching all the time. It's also likely that by the time your baby is 9-12 months old, this may become your primary stroller as most parents who are on the go want something that is easy to carry and take in and out of the car. Most stores sell very inexpensive “throw away” type umbrella strollers, however they won’t give you some of the basic feature that you are looking for and if it breaks while you are out of town, you will be frustrated.

The Maclaren Volo Stroller was designed to travel. It’s extremely lightweight (8.4 pounds), rides smoothly, folds easily and includes a carrying strap that lets you throw it over your shoulder. It also features an easy to clean, removable mesh seat that babies seem to find pretty comfortable. The mesh also makes it a great option for the beach as most sand will simply fall through and your baby is less likely to sweat in the hot weather. With the way that airlines throw around your luggage, you want to be sure to buy a durable stroller like the Maclaren Volo that can withstand the potential abuse, otherwise you will be replacing it often. I know $100 might seem like a lot for an umbrella stroller, but if you want one with great features that is built to last, the Maclaren Volo could be your stroller of choice and it's also great for around town or for keeping in the trunk of your car.
Devil's Advocate:
The major downside to the Maclaren Volo is the lack of a recline feature. If this is important to you, you should consider the Maclaren Triumph which is only slightly heavier and has these additional features and a more traditional non-mesh seat for not much more money. This is what we chose to do and we have been very happy with our decision. The recline feature is a nice addition for naps on the go.
