The Product: Crib Mobile
Unfortunately, the majority of mobiles for sale today are designed to match
the baby’s room, rather than serve a functional purpose. If you can
see cute little teddy bears facing you, then your baby is probably looking
at their bottoms. Not very practical if you ask me. A good mobile is one that the baby will enjoy as much or more than the parents.
Recommendation: Symphony in Motion Crib Mobile
The Symphony in Motion (SIM) by Tiny Love is a fun and colorful mobile that is first and foremost designed with your baby in mind. It has many shapes and colors set at an angle for the baby to interact with as they are laying the crib. This mobile also doesn’t just move around in circles, almost every part of it is in constant motion which will not only attract your baby’s attention but also improve their hand-eye coordination. The mobile also features 3 selections of soothing classical music from Bach Beethoven and Mozart (hence the name) that have been shown to help promote brain development. This was one of the first products my daughter reacted to and it was fascinating to watch. It was nice to have something that would keep her entertained at times during the day and help put her to sleep at night. As a result, we buy it as a baby gift for most of our friends. The SIM also comes in a black and white version.
Devil's Advocate:
The colors of the SIM are very bright and probably won’t exactly
match the colors that you have picked for your nursery. If you are the
anal type, you might want to think about if this will drive your crazy.
My advice is to chill out a little bit and pick a mobile that your child
will enjoy more than your decorator.
